Walk up an appetite with Wendy from Graze Tapas ~ Wine
Coastal Path Walks from Graze Tapas ~ Wine, Beacon Road, Newquay.
People who know Wendy from Graze Tapas ~ Wine in Newquay will know how hard she, Steve and the team work throughout the year to look after their customers and ensure they have a fabulous time. Much of life as a restaurateur revolves around work, and during opening hours, Wendy is usually out front — welcoming guests, advising on menus and wines, and generally making sure everything runs smoothly so every guest enjoys a lovely evening.
When Wendy isn’t working, she’s often found walking parts of the South West Coast Path — which runs just 50 metres past the restaurant’s front door. With such stunning scenery on her doorstep, embracing where she lives is part of Wendy’s daily routine. She makes sure to get a blast of fresh air and a fix of Newquay’s breathtaking coastal views — rain or shine.
This year, Graze became a proud member of the South West Coast Path Association — helping to keep the paths open and safe for everyone. It was a natural progression for a business that sits so close to the trail. Wendy often encourages visitors to walk a small section of the path while they’re in town. It’s a brilliant way to appreciate the North Cornwall coastline and soak up the views in and around Newquay. With seven bays in the area and the path hugging the coastline throughout, the views are guaranteed to inspire.
Wendy’s put together a few of her regular walks, starting from the restaurant door at 2 Beacon Road, Newquay, and taking in small sections of the Coast Path — helping to work up a good appetite so you can enjoy more small plates at Graze in the evening!

Harbour, Huers Hut, Headland & Home
Step out of Graze and walk past The Red Lion, down the hill towards Newquay Harbour. Instead of turning down the steps to the harbour, follow the road around to the left and walk behind the fish cellars. Keep on the path and climb the steps below The Atlantic Hotel, passing the famous Huers Hut — a 14th-century lookout once used to spot pilchard shoals.
Stop here for an unbeatable view up to Watergate Bay, and beyond to Trevose Head, where you can spot the Trevose Lighthouse in the distance.
Continue along the Gazzle — a lovely, even footpath that hugs rugged cliffs. If you’re lucky, you might spot seals swimming below or a few brave souls coasteering.
The gentle descent takes you towards Little Fistral Beach, where the old, now defunct Newquay Lifeboat Station sits proudly facing the bay. If you want to extend your walk, continue down to Towan Head, which offers incredible views out to sea. On stormy days, and in the right conditions, Newquay’s famous Cribbar wave — the UK’s biggest — can be seen breaking offshore.
Loop back from Towan Head along the pathway above Little Fistral, past the iconic Headland Hotel, where The Witches was filmed, and down to Fistral Beach. Fistral is a stunning beach with a small complex of restaurants and shops — perfect for a breather.
From Fistral, you can either walk further or loop back to the restaurant. Options include:
Continuing along the beach and out to East Pentire Headland towards Crantock Beach and the Gannel Estuary
Following a footpath behind Fistral Beach towards Esplanade Road, staying on the official South West Coast Path
Taking a shorter route back via the path that cuts through the golf course — just watch out for the occasional low-flying golf ball!
This is just one walk Wendy enjoys, with both shorter and longer options possible — easily navigated from your start point at Graze Tapas ~ Wine.
